* FQ is a fabric piece 18” by 21” available in quilt shops.

** WOF = width of fabric from 42” wide bolt

Requirement list:

14” (35cm) WOF cotton or 2x FQs for exterior

14” (35cm) WOF cotton or 2x FQs for lining

20” (50cm) cotton webbing 1” or 1¼” wide for handles

Bosal “In-r-form” single sided fusible batting (packet size 18” x 58”)

Other brands have similar products, use any your supplier has.

Sewing thread to match the fabric

Additionally for an optional pocket:

10” (25cm) WOF or 1x FQ for outer pocket

10” (25cm) medium weight fusible interfacing

20” (50cm) binding for pocket edge or one 1¼” by 20” (6cm by 50cm) piece of fabric to make binding

Other requirements:

A walking or even feed foot on the sewing machine is very handy for this sewing project.   

The usual cutting & measuring tools.
